Arjun Sajnani’s Tudor drama comes to Mumbai this weekend.
Arjun Sajnani’s production of Robert Bolt’s classic Tudor drama, A Man For All Seasons, comes to the city this weekend. The play, set in England during the rule of Henry VIII, is about Sir Thomas More who stands against the King’s resolve to divorce his ageing wife (who can’t give him a son) and marry his mistress Anne Boleyn instead. It has received rave reviews from critics and audiences. The characters are costumed in original Tudor style. Says Arjun, “I have bought authentic Tudor costumes worn in the English court during the reign of Henry VIII, including hats, plumes and collars.” The production relies heavily on lighting wizardry to give it the texture and feel of Tudor England, and features Bangalore’s top acting talent including names like Ashok Mandanna, Aporup Acharya, Veena Sajnani and Vivek Madan.
A Man For All Seasons will be staged at Nehru Centre, Worli on April 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 pm.
